Sample Letter #1:
We are very pleased that you have joined our Springfield Women's Group. Our members, professional women representing several ethnic groups, organize educational and service projects such as the Read-a-Thon and our International Week. We also have social teas and musical performances. All of these events benefit our community and promote a wonderful camaraderie among our group members.

I would like to pick you up for the next meeting on May 1. Three of us usually travel to the meetings together, and this would give us a chance to get better acquainted. This next meeting is to plan the Christmas Tea. I will call you on Friday. In the meantime if I can help you in anyway, please call me at 555-5555.

Sample Letter #2:
We are pleased that you have accepted our invitation to join the Doe Society for Professional Communication and we welcome you as a valuable member of our organization. If you have any questions about the society before attending your first meeting, please call me at 555-5555. I will be glad to help you in any way I can.

As noted earlier, our group meets every Tuesday evening from 8:00 to 9:30 in the Doe Corporation board room at 1600 Main Street. I look forward to seeing you then.

Sample Letter #3:
Welcome to the Springfield Boosters' Club! We are happy to inform you that your application for membership has been accepted. The Boosters' Club has been an important part of the Springfield community since 1969, providing many social and charitable opportunities for its members.

With this letter we have enclosed a three-month calendar of upcoming events and a pamphlet giving a brief history of the organization and the important work we do. Please note the welcome luncheon for new members at noon on March 1. At that time you will be introduced to the club and have an opportunity to become acquainted with the other members. The club president, Mr. John Doe, will give a new member orientation. We are delighted to add an active, enthusiastic individual like you to the club, and look forward to many years of rewarding association.

Sample Letter #4:
We are pleased to welcome you and your family as members of the Doe Country Club, one of the most beautiful clubs in the state. As coordinator of membership services, I am here to help you feel comfortable in your new surroundings. I am at the club from 8 to 5 almost every day. For your information, we're holding our annual Spring Banquet on Friday, May 5. Everyone is welcome. Kids always seem to have a great time. Mark it on your calendar and we'll show what a great club this is.

Sample Letter #5:
Welcome to the American History Association! We are delighted that you have joined us and trust that the benefits of membership will meet your expectations. We have entered your membership for the 1998 calendar year.

As a member you will automatically receive semiannually the Journal of American History, of which we are justifiably proud, and four quarterly newsletters. We will send occasional mailings as well, including requests for dues, miscellaneous announcements, and registration forms for the annual meetings.

Our officers are receptive to new ideas. This year's president, John Doe, and any of the council, will be happy to hear from you. Don't hesitate to write!
